We sailed away from Cabo San Lucas on 11/13. Upon departure, we charted a course to Mazatlan on the mainland, but within the first hour decided to reroute toward Isle Isabel. With some favorable wind at times, we completed this 235-mile sail in less than 48 hours.
Isla Isabel is a Mexican National Park that is often referred to as the Galapagos of Mexico. This approximately one square mile island is the major feeding and nesting ground for over 30,000 seabirds. The Magnificent Frigatebird and Blue-Footed Booby species seem to dominate and are a joy to photograph. With no natural predators, they are nearly fearless.
After a two-day stay at Isla Isabel, we sailed to Matanchen Bay near San Blas where we had an opportunity to travel along the La Tovara Nature Preserve by panga. Along the La Tovara we were treated to additional sights and sounds that were a joy to experience.
It would be impossible to accurately describe the beauty of these two natural settings through text. Hopefully, this two-part post of photos will help to convey the experience...
Thanks for viewing!
