December 6th started out as a good day and got even better.
As we were finishing a few departure tasks at the dock in Isle de Navidad, we were delighted to hear the sound of the French Baker's bell. Jean-Charles, originally from Normandy, worked in Mexico City before recently acquiring his own French bakery in Barra de Navidad. Each morning he makes rounds to the marina and anchorage, selling his baked goods and French wares from his modified panga, which he refers to as "my office." For the sole purpose of demonstrating our support for small business, Jean-Charles pulled away from Traveler with fewer pastries, one less jar of homemade mango marmalade and one less bottle of French wine.
Moments later, we motored through the channel and entered the bay, where we were greeted by favorable wind for sailing. Under full sail, we set off for Zihuatanejo.
Forty-eight hours later, we arrived to Zihua. It may seem that we are repeating ourselves with our appreciation of so many Mexican coastal towns, and Zihua is no exception. Other than a 2 1/2 hour check-in with the Port Captain, we very much enjoyed Zihuatanejo. This is a wonderfully happy and friendly town that calls for a return someday, with or without a boat.
Hopefully, the following images will leave you with the same impression.
Great entry and pics....they really tell the story of your experiences.
Of course you have to support those small businesses! ;)
